When I read
these tomes of fanciful lore
and yellowed pages of the days of yore

I gain a new perspective
on the present day
a jaded view on our new ways

When they say “Forward-thinking”
I hear “Forget from where we came”
When they say “New and improved!”
I hear “New song and dance, the same game”

They teach history but why when no one hears?
we’re supposed to learn from their mistakes,
their counsel transcends the years.

So please take another look at that dusty spine in the corner
and feel free to judge it by the cover,
cause if that doesn’t suit just look and you’ll find yet another, and another, and another…
